 Distributed operating system : 

The motivation behind developing distributed operating system is the availability of powerful and inexpensive microprocessor and advance in communication technology in this operating system many computer are interconnected by communication networks. Distributed operation system is one of the important type of operating system. These operating system use multiple central processor to serve multiple real time application and multiple user.The processor communicate with one another through various communication lines (Such as high sped buses or telephone lines ). These processor are known as sits, nodes, computers etc.

Advantage of distributed operating system : 

  1. If one site fail in a distributed system, the remaining sites can potentially continue operate.
  2. There are variety of reasons for building distributed system, Resource sharing, computation speed up, reliability, communication.
  3. Reduction of delays in data processing.Speed up the exchange of data with one another via electronic mail.

Disadvantage of distributed operating system : 

  1. The database connected to the distribute system is quit complicated and difficult to handle a compare to a single user system.
  2. Overloading may occur in the network if all the nodes of the distributed system try to data a once.
  3. Some message and data can be lost in the network while moving one node to another.
